HANEFELD opens office in Paris and hires former ICC Counsel Dr Maria Hauser-Morel

Effective 1 March 2020, Germany’s premier dispute resolution boutique HANEFELD has opened an office in Paris. The firm has recruited Dr. Maria Hauser-Morel, a Polish qualified lawyer admitted to the Paris bar under Directive 98/5/EC, as counsel to be based in the Paris office. After having worked for reputable Polish and international law firms in Warsaw and Paris, Maria has until recently headed the ICC Court’s case management team dealing primarily with cases in Central and Eastern Europe.

Dr. Dirk Wiegandt, LL.M. appointed as Regional Representative for Europe of the YIAG

Dr. Dirk Wiegandt, LL.M (Cambridge) has been appointed Regional Representative for Europe of the Young International Arbitration Group (YIAG), the young professionals association of the London Court of International Arbitration (LCIA).

Established in 1997 as the first group of its kind, YIAG aims to promote the understanding and use of international arbitration law and practice by providing opportunities for its members to exchange views on topical issues in international commercial arbitration. Currently, there are over 10,000 members from more than 140 countries.

Dr. Johanna Büstgens promoted to senior associate

Dr. Johanna Büstgens has been promoted to senior associate effective 1 January 2020. Johanna started her career at HANEFELD in 2016 and has since then acted as counsel, arbitrator and secretary to arbitral tribunals in numerous arbitrations and state court proceedings with a special focus on complex energy disputes.

Jörn Hombeck, LL.M promoted to partner

Jörn Hombeck, LL.M (Auckland) has been promoted to partner effective 1 January 2020. Jörn has handled complex domestic as well as cross-border litigation and arbitration matters at HANEFELD for more than six years. He is internationally recognized as an outstanding, strategic and ‘extremely clever’ lawyer (see WWL Future Leader in Arbitration).

As partner, his renowned and diverse litigation expertise (including antitrust damage claims) together with his capacity to inspire confidence in his clients will continue to complement HANEFELD’s established dispute resolution practice (see: JUVE Handbook 2019/2020).
