On 7 May 2026, our Hamburg-based colleague Dr Christian Johannes Wahnschaffe is speaking at a YAAP - Young Austrian Arbitration Practitioners Roundtable in Vienna, hosted by DORDA Rechtsanwälte GmbH.

Moderated by Philip Exenberger and organised by the YAAP - Young Austrian Arbitration Practitioners Co-Chairs Stephanie Rohmann and Sonja Otenhajmer, the Roundtable will explore the role of arbitral institutions. While interacting with arbitral institutions is an essential part of arbitral proceedings, the legal relationship between the disputing parties and the institution rarely takes centre stage. At the same time, recent updates to institutional rules reflect a shift in procedural decision-making towards the institutions – in an environment that can turn confrontational. Understanding those parameters is becoming increasingly important for parties and their counsel. In this interactive session, Dr. Christian Johannes Wahnschaffe and Philip Exenberger will discuss those parameters and international court practice, offering practical guidance from the perspective of the parties’ counsel.
